Rep. Rouda Supports Legislation to Fix Young American Adult CARES Act Eligibility Requirements
Laguna Beach, CA - Today, Congressman Harley Rouda (CA-48), along with 86 bipartisan Members of Congress, introduced the All Dependent Children Count Act, which would expand the definition of a dependent for the Recovery Rebates for Individual sections of the CARES Act to include: children younger than 19, students 24 and younger, and no age limit for dependents who are disabled.
"The CARES Act effectively prevents college students and their families from receiving crucial direct cash assistance," said Rouda. "The All Dependent Children Count Act would correct this oversight and make young American adults, disabled adults, and their families eligible for COVID-19 financial assistance. I urge leaders in the House and Senate to pass this legislation immediately to retroactively correct this omission in the next COVID-19 funding bill."
