Rep. Harley Rouda Sends Letter to National Governors Association Requesting "Stay at Home" Orders Nationwide
Laguna Beach, CA - Today, Congressman Harley Rouda (CA-48), along with Representatives Dingell, Trahan, Escobar, Scanlon, Stevens, Soto, Tlaib, and Mucarsel-Powell, sent a letter to Governors Larry Hogan (R-MD) and Andrew Cuomo (D-NY), Chair and Vice Chair of the National Governors Association, respectively, requesting consideration of working together with other governors to institute “stay at home” orders nationwide.
“Without approved treatments and a vaccine, aggressive and enforced social distancing is our only weapon to fight COVID-19 and slow the spread of the disease," said Rouda. "In the past days and weeks governors, Republican and Democratic, have lead by instituting "stay at home" orders. While these orders affect about half of our nation’s population, mitigation is most effective with 100 percent participation.”
“We need the remaining governors to enact statewide ‘stay at home’ orders immediately to minimize long-term, devastating harm to our communities, families, and economy.”
